GeoTrick #3

UPDATE: works best with this landing pad:  Near 100% success rate!

Max's favorite Geo-Trick so far.... Imagine a flying GeoTrain... with fairly common parts... and fairly high (50% or so) accuracy (lands on track and keeps going)....

See photos below for notes and ideas on how to build, but be sure to watch the video!...

Notes: This was tested with the photographed train above as well as Oceanside Flyer and the Pacific Chief.   The train above "flies" further than the others, but all fly fairly well...  The shorter the jump, the more successful landings you will have.  The jump used in the video and these images is exactly 6".  This is the length of one standard straight track segment.

The Video (best):  Here  (This does a much better job of describing the trick than this webpage can!)

It all starts with 3 ramps... (with a 3" straight attached at the top for a bit of flat space)

(guardrails are optional, but may help... who knows)

At the base of the three ramps is half of a drawbridge, supported a few inches off the ground (with Styrofoam in my setup) followed by a 6" gap or so, then a black bridge (see update above for better landing pad!)... Everything beyond that is up to you....

(Note that the crossing gate was removed... Also, the drawbridge *will* connect with the elevation ramp on top of a support.. but it requires a little forcing...

Full Size Layout:

The gap should be 6" or less... Your mileage may vary.... (See update above for better landing pad design!)

Max LOVES this GeoTrick!
